The Bet Is On
My son (a 20-something) and I (a
50-plusser) were talking - more like a heated conversation - about a new
website I created for those of us who are 50 years old and older.
It's called:
RightAgeGold.com .
Knowing 50-plussers isn't new to me.
I grew a similar group (of over 50 year olds) to have 105,000+ members
in the late 70's without the benefit of the world wide reach of the internet.
(Oh, and I might add, the late 70's was years before my son was even
born!)
His words of wisdom during our discussion:
people who are 50 and older aren't on the internet anywhere near the
amount of time as his age group (20's and 30's). My feeling is maybe
he's right, we 50-plussers don't spend as much time online but the time
we do spend is quality time not just playing video games or
downloading music like the kids (you know, the 20 and 30 somethings).
Right Age is an online community we
50-plussers can call our own with social networking (chat, forums, blogs,
groups, etc.)...and with out purchasing clout tremendous savings on name
brand products...plus exciting travel and cruise programs..
This cost to join Right Age? Not a cent.
All of this, still doesn't convince him
that we over 50's make up a huge, active, internet savvy
population segment.
Always competitive - gee, I wonder where he
gets that from, he suggested we make a bet that both of us would hate to
lose. Since I was so convinced that we 50 plussers would join a
website (for free) that was focused on us and our needs and wants...and he
was so convinced you wouldn't we made a deal.
